On Thursday, April 28th, 2022 students from Chagrin Falls High School set off for their final exam field trip. All of the students who took part in the field trip were either enrolled in Digital Portfolio Prep or Digital Photography class. Over 40 students participated in this event, leaving promptly in the morning for their trip and arriving back at the school at the end of the day. Over the course of 6 hours, the students made their way to three different locations. The young photographers started their journey at the Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland. The beautiful, tranquil 285 acres of land provided the students with alluring photo ops as well as a chance to respect those who have passed and were currently buried in the cemetery. The crisp, sunny spring morning provide great lighting for the photographers and an enjoyable start to their trip. Next, the classes moved to the Rockefeller Greenhouse, located just a few miles from the Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland. This greenhouse was quite the site to see as it provided a variety of captivating scenes including different plants and vegetation, which all presented great opportunities for images to be collected and obtained. At this point in the day, students were growing hungry as it was lunchtime so they made their way over to Little Italy where they ate great food and supported local businesses, including Prestis Bakery and Mamma Santa's, an old-time family run Italian eatery. After being refueled at lunch, the photographers moved on to their last location, the 306 Auto Parts & Wrecking Junkyard. This business, in Novelty, Ohio, delivers second hand scrap metal and car pieces to its customers. The generous owner of the Junkyard allowed the students a unique opportunity to take photographs of interesting subjects of scrap cars before they returned back to the school. Cece Mergenhagen, a junior photographer at CFHS described the day as a "fun and successful field trip where we were able to collect a lot of interesting photos". Overall, the Chagrin Falls High School photography students were offered a special opportunity to use all of their creative and imaginative thinking skills to hone in on and compile a wide variety of images for their final exam project for the 2021-2022 school year.
