On December 2nd, students from Chagrin Falls High School embarked on their midterm field trip. The students that went were enrolled in either the Film Photography or Digital Portfolio Prep. Photography courses at Chagrin. They left in the morning, and returned at the end of the school day which provided an entire day of shooting and thinking creatively. The day was bright and sunny day which meant the students had lots of adjusting apertures and making sure the pictures are taken with the right camera settings, a difficult skill to master. The students started at the B&0 Roundhouse in Cleveland. The roundhouse works on restoring and maintaining vintage locomotives and cars and were able to provide a great opportunity for the high schoolers to be able to take pictures with lots of interesting subject matter. The students worked up an appetite taking so many photos and continued their voyage on to the Coventry Road area where they all enjoyed a nice meal and supported local restaurants. After, they proceeded to the Cleveland Art Museum. The museum was also filled with interesting subject matter and students had to face several adversities for many parts of the museum were very dark and there were many other visitors in the museum at the same time. Though there were challenges, the students were able to persevere and produce some really great images. Oakleigh Niethammer, one of Chagrin Falls High Schools young photographers, categorizes the day as "a really fun and interesting learning experience".
