The Chagrin Falls Digital photography class went on their highly anticipated final exam field trip during the month of April. The students were able to experience the olden days at the Burton century Village, pig-out and taste all things maple at the Chardon Maple Festival, and last of all the students were able to see business in action at Best Sands while wearing blazing orange vests and bright white hardhats. The first stop, Burton Century village took students back in time to experience a Western Reserve village from 1789. The site included historical replicas of towns, buildings, and farms. There were also historical features like farming equipment, railroad trains, and workshops. The second stop on the all day excursion was the Chardon Maple Festival. The Maple Festival was crowded with smiling children and filled with sweets galore. Students were able to try maple stirs, scolding hot maple syrup in a dish that students had to stir until it had a firm consistency like maple candy. Also, students were able to bask in the sunlight with games, prizes, and rides all around them and even some amazing fair food, fries, deep fried oreos, cotton candy, and caramel apples. The third and last stop of the day was Best Sands. Best Sands is a company that manufactures all different types of sand products and by-products. They work throughout the year at all of their mines rain or shine, and even snow. In addition, they supply area golf courses and Progressive Field with their products.
