by Elana Spano On a cold, rainy day the Chagrin Falls photography classes took a field trip to Mansfield to see the Mansfield Reformatory and Kingswood Garden. When they arrived at the abandoned reformatory all of the students could tell it was going to be an interesting field trip. Among the students you could hear the many conversations about the reformatory being haunted, which made everyone more eager to get in. Once inside the students went on the guided tour and took pictures along the way. When they got through the hallways of the front part of the building they saw the cells. The cells were all rusted and the paint was peeling off the walls. There were multiple colors of paint from many different years. The students walked around the reformatory making sure that their pictures fit the alloted criteria but also were creative. After their time at the reformatory the students went to Kingswood Gardens. Unfortunately when they arrived it was still raining, so needless to say they weren't very excited. However, once they were off the bus they saw all of the beautiful flowers. Tulips everywhere. Red, white, yellow and pink tulips surrounded them. One student made the comment that "The flowers look so pretty with the rain drops on them". And indeed they did. After their short time at the gardens they got back on the bus. On their way home the students talked about the pictures they took and how they would incorperate them into their finals. The next day at school they will develop their film and start printing and editing their pictures from their fun field trip.
